Bereavement Counselling in Bridlington and Online

Losing someone close can bring overwhelming grief, anxiety and a sense of disorientation. If you are struggling with bereavement you don’t have to face it alone. I offer bereavement counselling in a safe, supportive space where you can process your loss at your own pace.

As an integrative counsellor, my approach combines different therapeutic models to support you as a whole person, emotionally, mentally and practically. Whether your loss is recent or long ago, sessions are tailored to you.

How bereavement counselling can help

Grief can show up in many ways including:

  • Persistent sadness and emotional numbness
  • Anxiety & panic
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
  • Feeling stuck or unable to move forward

Bereavement counselling helps you:

  • Make sense of grief and anxiety
  • Find some meaning in the loss
  • Express difficult emotions safely
  • Adjust to life after loss
  • Find ways to cope day to day

 Understanding Grief

Grief is not a straight line and using the Dual Process Model we understand that people naturally move between:

  • Loss-oriented experiences – feeling the pain of grief, longing and remembering
  • Restoration-orientated experiences – managing daily life, responsibilities and change

You may find yourself moving between these two states even within the same day. This is a normal and healthy part of grieving, not something that you’re getting wrong.

As part of my integrative approach, I support you in navigating both your grief and any anxiety that comes with it.

If you think this something that could help you at the moment, please get in touch to arrange a free, 30 minute initial consultation.
